Squeezy

Squeezy™ is an innovative Class I MDR medical device designed to support patients in self-administering eye drops independently. The device reduces the gripping force required for cylindrical plastic eye drop bottles and helps users gain more control during administration.

There is a significant need for a solution like Squeezy™. Research shows that approximately 12.2% of eye drop users have difficulty squeezing the bottle, while about 40% experience at least one problem when administering eye drops. Among patients with rheumatoid arthritis, this percentage rises to as high as 62%. Reduced hand strength, arthritis, osteoarthritis, neurological conditions, and age-related limitations make it difficult for many users to administer eye medication independently and consistently.

Squeezy™ offers a practical solution for this by distributing the force more efficiently over the eye drop bottle. Thanks to the adjustable pressure points, the device can be adapted to various compatible eye drop bottles. The adjustment mechanism is designed for ease of use and requires only minimal effort to adjust.

An important distinguishing feature is the collaboration with Druppelzorg B.V., the developer of the original eye drop glasses. Squeezy™ has been specifically developed to be used in combination with the original eye drop glasses, providing users with support in both positioning the eye drop bottle and applying the necessary squeezing force.

The tool focuses in particular on the elderly, chronic eye drop users, and patients with impaired hand function. Due to the increasing aging population and the growth in the number of people who are dependent on long-term eye drop therapy, the need for simple supportive aids is increasing further.

Squeezy™ is made of PLA, is reusable, latex-free, and easy to clean. The device does not affect the action of the medication or the prescribed treatment, but supports users with an important practical aspect of daily eye care. Thus, Squeezy™ contributes to greater independence, ease of use, and confidence during long-term eye drop therapy.
